Our brief was to open up the garden, a place for entertaining without the need for lawn.
Key to our design was an old mulberry and apple tree. These trees were two of only a few worthy specimens retained in the garden. A central circle of natural stone with informal seating made from a rendered wall embraced the two trees, now the apple tree branches hang delicately over the area the mulberry trunk breaks and forms part of the circle. It is now used to recline against and hang lights in and has now become the central focus of the garden.
